Year-Round Tourist Destination

 Kalambaka is a small town in Central Greece. The second biggest in Greece River Pineios flows near the town. With the backbone of the main street and several squares decorated with abundant fountains there is the central square – the meeting point for local families. Being very tourist friendly, Kalambaka offers a wide range of bars and restaurants, which are mainly located along the main street. Besides the famous Meteora, the church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is another interesting landmark of the town.

A Bit of History

The town is built on the location of the ancient city of Aiginion. The name "Kalabaka" was given to it six or seven centuries ago. It is of Turkish origin and means "powerful fortress".
